Jimi at Monterey

without comments

I was watching Jimi Hendrix’s performance at the Monterey pop festival in June 1967. What a blistering version of killing floor to kick it off.  A lot of questions came to mind. How did his guitar stay in tune with all that whammy bar usage during the gig. Was his strat that well setup? I also did not notice any pedals on the floor. Did he use any? Surely there must have been a fuzz box somewhere. The Arbiter or maybe even the Mestro Fuzz-Tone? Definitely a very minimal live setup. No wah, univibe or octavia like his later years.

The official hendrix site has a fairly good feature on creating the classic hendrix sound.

Bad Monkey

without comments

Can’t afford a  tube amp? Hell can’t even afford the Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer, then the Digitech Bad Monkey is definitely the one you want. At half the price of the Ibanez pedal it does everything the TS can do and more. I have been skeptical about Digitech pedals but I reckon they have outdone themselves with this one. I am more than happy with mine.

Digitech Bad Monkey

Make that cheap amp of yours sound like a classic tube amp
